Statement of intent

This is our statement of intent where we highlight what we want to produce, made mostly by haresha

Statement of Intent
Genre /Sub-genre
Celebrity Controversy / Celebrity CrimeReason being that we believe this genre is most suitable with our style as we all believe that this the most interesting thing that we can make with our combined skill set. Because our videographers can take good “paparazzi” style shots and our editor is also suited to do “flashy” stuff.
Topic
A fast-growing celebrity with a good past who does philanthropic and charity acts since the early time of his career turns into a one-night murderer, seeking his revenge by killing a singer that insults him.
Primary Target Audience
Demographic:

Young adults (Age 18-26)
Working or pursuing further education
Highschool/University-Working
Male and Female
We believe that young adults might be more captivated with our work as this documentary will be more relatable for them in this current era, which is the booming trend of celebrity gossip, cancel culture, and celebrity murdering. Moreover, young adults are old enough to understand implicit meanings and the controversial debates from this crime documentary. Additionally, our influencers are from the current era's notable crimes which the audience may be more familiar with in the current days.
Psychographic:

Cultured singer celebrity fans
Gossips enthusiast
Idol fans
People who are fans with idols may have a new perspective on their favourite celebrities, making them begin to think twice about them. Other than that, this documentary would be a hot topic for gossip enthusiasts as they can furthermore discuss and debate about the overall cases, motives of the killing with more depth, and they would have something to talk about with someone, as mentioned in the theory of Uses and Gratification by Bulmer & Katz of social relationships.
Secondary Target Audience
Demographic:

Parents (30-60)
Working or retired
Male and female

Psychographic:
Lifestyle: Celebrity Manager
Personality: Wise parents
Hip hop and Pop Fans
Parents are usually very serious about protecting their child and since this documentary includes teenagers being famous celebrities, it correlates to the parent’s children being young.

Aside from that, this documentary can also be shown to those parents whose children are also young-teenage celebrities and they act as their personal manager, where they can use this documentary as a guidance and reminder to teach or inform their kid on how to manage their emotions under pressure and tell them not to be reckless in making decisions based on short-term vengeance.
Message (Dominant Reading)
A gentle face in the outside doesn’t always mean a kind heart in the inside

Shallow thought and decision may have killed two people in one night.
Even if people seem to have and show their positive face in the public eye, it can always differ from their true personality in the real world. Do not be deceived by external faces, before you’ve seen what's inside.

Second quote implies that before doing anything, either something useful or reckless such as killing somebody over a diss, you must remember to think twice about the long-term impact of your own decision you’ve made today. Because you’re not only killing the victim, but at the same time you’re losing yourself by drowning in the thoughts of regret and eventually the grip to your sanity.
Characters
Ata (A.S.-Craxx)
Haresha (Resha)
Loui (Ferri S. Hort - best friends of both singer)
Nathan (Reporter Qian Nis)
Bagas (Ata’s childhood friend)
Nicho (Haresha’s childhood friend)
Representations (groups, places, events)
Groups: Celebrity

Places: Celebrity bedroom

Events: Murdering
We want to represent the dark side of the celebrity world, where a young celebrity couldn’t handle a diss because he is still a teenager. This conforms to the representation of teenagers being unable to control their emotions properly and for them to take reckless actions without thinking about the long-term impact. While for the other celebrity, we want to represent him as a person with a challenger personality where he likes to diss big celebrities and create problems with everyone regardless of their status.

Bedrooms are represented to be a comfortable space where a person resides and rest, giving them a sense of security. Usually this is the place where we feel safe to express our real emotions and feelings, the bedroom may also connote privacy. This privacy makes us, as humans, let down our sense of vigilantism, making us vulnerable to threats. Usually there are less people in private homes than in public, making criminal activity to occur easily in this area.

An assasination that occurs in the bedroom is most likely expected as it is where we sleep and remain vegetative, to the point where we are most vulnerable at. However, we tend to forget how expectedable it is due to the comfortability we keep experiencing in this room leading us to let down our guard, which makes us think that it isn’t likely to occur even right now. That is how Ata met his demise, not expecting an uninvited guest breaking in his private space and taking his life.
Audience interaction / Engagement
Audience Engagement can be done by making the content of our documentary related to the interest of the audiences that we’re currently targeting, for example our documentary is all about celebrity crimes which we’re aiming for young adults who understands implicit meaning and those who has basics in debates and arguments, because most crime documentaries often resonate with controversies which some people have different beliefs and opinions based on their own judgements. Using Barthes five codes, Hermeneutic Codes, it keeps audience curious and questioned the next fate for Haresha and the fate for Ata’s relatives; Proairetic Codes, where this documentary can explain the initial event which leads to this tragedy, making audiences wanted to follow this episode seriously to connect dots between events and checkpoints given in the documentary.

Self reflection: Making this Statement of Intent with my team helped us to grasp what kind of style we should try to go for more as when we were discussing on what to put, I gave the idea to have a more raw and more slow cinematic style to capture an older audience but we agreed that since we had teen actors we should find a younger demographic, and we change the style to be match that.
